The European Commission gave no exact date they start to sell but confirmed to be in the first months of the year as necessary standards were set for production.



In mid 2009, the bloc agreed with 13 mobile phone manufacturers universal chargers. However, the authorities two years to adapt the specifications. The solution came from the hand of the micro USB connection, which is already built into many phones.



Among the companies that signed the agreement include Nokia, Sony Ericsson, Apple, RIM, Motorola and Samsung.



"Now is the time for industry to recognize the agreement and start selling mobile phones for the new magazine," said Industry Commissioner of the European Union, Antonio Tajani.



"The new charger will make life easier for consumers, reduce waste and will help the economy," he added. One of the requirements of the European Union is that devices must consume less electricity.
